The wise manager knows when to shut up

The Wise Manager knows when to shut up.

I have heard of managers who can ramble on for an hour about completely random things: such as their cat/dog, weather, music, restaurants in Singapore, mostly because they did not have anything of significance to talk about.

Don’t be that manager.

Everyone’s time is precious. A typical all hands has some ten to thousand people who are spending an hour of their time listening to you.

That’s a lot of collective wasted time, which, for highly paid workers, translates to a lot of wasted dollars.

If he has nothing relevant to say, the Wise Manager knows to shut up, and to ask someone else to speak instead.

After all, wisdom does not only exist at the top of the reporting chain.
